Trains 200 NSD members in the essential life-saving technique of hands only CPR 10 which can help revive a clinically dead person for up to 10 minutes after they suffer a sudden cardiac arrest Provides free ECG tests, Blood Pressure monitoring and doctor consultation New Delhi, June 8, 2016: Heart Care Foundation of India (HCFI), a leading National non-profit organization working towards spreading health awareness in the country and making it a healthier conducted a half day health check-up and Hands Only CPR training camp at the National School of Drama today. The Chief Guest for the camp was none other than Bollywood actor Mukesh Tiwari. The key purpose behind the camp was to raise awareness about the increasing incidence of lifestyle diseases such as obesity, hypertension, diabetes and heart attacks in the country and importance of preventive health. Over 200 NSD members were provided free ECG, blood pressure, bone density tests and overall preventive health counseling. They were also trained on the easy to learn, life-saving technique of hands only CPR 10 for revival after sudden cardiac arrest. The basic concept of hands only CPR is based on the fact that a person’s soul does not leave the body for up to 10 minutes after their death and the person’s heart can be revived through a simple technique. The CPR 10 formula taught to the attendees was ‘Within 10 minutes of death (earlier the better), for at least the next ten minutes (longer the better), compress the center of the chest of the dead person continuously and effectively with a speed of 10 x 10 = 100 per minute’. Speaking about the initiative, Padma Shri Awaredee Dr KK Aggarwal, President - Heart Care Foundation of India & Honorary Secretary General IMA said, “Heart Care Foundation of India is committed to raising awareness about the importance of preventive healthcare and strongly believe that we must now work towards the reversal of lifestyle diseases. It was indeed a proud moment for the NGO to have been given the opportunity to set up a health checkup and training camp at a prestigious institution like the National School of Drama today and have amongst us renowned actor Mr. Mukesh Tiwari as the Chief Guest. In total we provided hands only CPR training to over 200 people and also conducted health tests for them and counseled them on the management and prevention of diseases. We look forward to organizing many more such initiatives in the future and thank our partners.” In his message, Actor Mr. Mukesh Tiwari said, that prevention is better than cure and each one of us must take care our own health and well-being and that of our family. Since actors live high-stressed lives, it is important that they take out time for themselves, exercise regularly, eat a healthy diet and adopt calming techniques and get adequate sleep at night. Each and every person should also learn the technique of hands only CPR. You never know whose life you will have the opportunity to save. To stay away from lifestyle diseases it is important to exercise regularly, eat a healthy diet and get regular preventive health check ups done. While stress affects each one of us, it must be dealt with in a positive manner. Staying away from vices such as smoking and drinking is also key.\ To know more or to organize a health check-up or CPR training camp in your locality, please call the NGO’s helpline number 9958771177.
