The honor was conferred on Dr. K K Aggarwal following a unanimous decision by a distinguished jury chaired by Dr. S Y Qureshi, former Chief Election Commissioner of India. Dr. K K Aggarwal, who has previously received four National honors – a Padma Shri, Vishwa Hindi Samman, National Science Communication Award, and the Dr. B C Roy National Award – was presented the award in a special ceremony amidst a huge gathering of the who’s who of the industry, at Le Meridien, New Delhi. His name found a place in the esteemed Limca Book of Records for the maximum number of people trained in the life-saving technique of “Hands only CPR 10”. He has also successfully trained 100% of the policemen operating PCR vans in Delhi to administer first-aid CPR in cardiac arrest cases on road. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. K K Aggarwal, President, HCFI and Honorary Secretary General, IMA, said, "While it is a matter of great pride and honor for me to receive this prestigious award, it is also a reminder that my commitment to preventive and quality healthcare must only grow stronger. This award is another encouragement for me to continue serving the society and work towards making India a healthier nation." Keeping up with the theme of celebrating excellence, this is the eighth edition of the Healthcare Excellence Awards (HEAL) this year by FICCI. FICCI HEAL has been an annual event aimed at felicitating innovation and improvement in the delivery of quality healthcare. The awards were founded as a joint effort between FICCI and the Quality Council of India in 2009 to applaud the works of healthcare organizations and professionals towards increased quality, patient safety, and bringing in technological advancements in various realms of healthcare services. The Awards have since become a mark of credibility and brilliance, and have emerged as the most coveted honor in the industry.
